Roll up, roll up! It's time for our fantastic & official summer TMX Wallpaper Competition.
After the huge success of the 1st wallpaper competition, we've decided to run it again, and this time we've got even BIGGER and BETTER prizes! You can win some SERIOUS COPPERS, and some fantastic PC GAMES right here! All you have to do to win is dazzle us with your artistic creativity.
If you think you have what it takes to produce eye popping, drop-dead gorgeous graphics, you could be walking away with one of these AMAZING prizes:
1st Prize
40 000 in coppers
OR one of the following pc games to download and 10 000 Coppers
- the pc game 'TrackMania United' to download.
- the pc game '32nd America’s Cup Virtual Skipper 5' to download.
- the pc shooter 'Call of Juarez' (which is brilliant-says popgun) to download.
*Out of your winnings we will give 1500 Coppers to EACH of the ADDITIONAL screenshot makers that helped you (who you will read about below..).

Rules
o Only 1 entry per entrant
o Wallpaper should be 1024x768 or 1280x1024 widescreen 1400x900 pixels
o If one of the rules is broken we will not judge your work
o We will not accept any wallpapers sent past the deadline date!
o Only Trackmania wallpapers will be allowed. If it doesn't scream Trackmania immediately, it will be discarded.
o That means it should have TM tracks, TM cars and TM environments, in any combination you like.
o Use any effects you like, but the TM theme should be always dominent.
o Wallpapers must be in JPG format, no feisty BMP please.
o Filenames must carry your user name as last part, e.g. mysuperwallpaper_giler.jpg
Important: Send previews pics (screeny size 320x240 pixels only) to Giler and post links for full size versions in this thread.
DO NOT POST FULL SIZE PICTURES HERE. Only the link.
Rules on what elements must be included in the wallpaper
o A Trackmania related background image.
o The TMX logo. You can resize it if you wish but no skewing or defacing the logo.
o Space for desktop icons.
o 3 Official track screenshots from TMX embedded in the image! The screenshots must be standard 320*240 pixels size.
o DO NOT alter ANY of the screenies you use in the comp or you will find yourself disqualified.
o No clan/team TAGS on cars or in the wallpaper.
o Wallpaper should be 1024x768, 1280x1024 or 1400x900 pixels no exceptions
Rules on the screenshots that must be used
o Where you get your screenshots is up to you!
o You can use your own, or use someone else's, but they must be screenshots used on TMX (any version of the site).
o If you use other peoples screenshots then 1500 coppers, out of your prize, will go to that person.
o So use 3 different peoples screenies and they each receive 1500 of your prize coppers.
This way you can get the best screenies you can find, colour coordinate your wallpaper elements, arrange the parts to suit yourself, win a huge prize and have plenty of coppers to pay your 'Screeny Slaves'(tm) with too. If you use your own screenies, you win the lot.
When you post your wallpaper link, please text link to the tracks where the screenies come from so the screeny slaves get some recognition and we can check they're genuine. Most screeny slaves will be delighted to let you use their screenies in your image especially since they may win coppers for work already done.

Just to show you how flexible you can be, and the standard you should be aiming for, I asked some of the judges to produce an image using the rules above.

Some Tips
o Try your best to be original, and try your best not to be cliché.
o Do your best to keep the quality of the image high.
o Remember, it's about what someone would want to put on their desktop, so leave a clear space for icons.
Most people default their icons to a vertical column on the left hand side, 2 or 3 icons wide. You don't have to default to this, but you must leave space somewhere.
o All the wallpapers will be tested on our desktops, under both the Windows XP layout style (UI) and Windows Vista style.
o If you have a third party UI that does not match the standard XP/Vista styles, then you may lose marks.
o Consider using MORE than just filters, brushes, lens flare and colour changes before you submit your image.
Think about how long it might take before someone gets bored of the desktop, give the viewer plenty to look at, but keep it simple at the same time.
o If you add text, think how your font that compliments the image.
o Also consider using original fonts that haven't been used a million times before, no matter how awesome they are.
o Please make words relevant to the TM game.
o We do not insist on a 'the biggest & best track swapping site' style tagline this time.
o When you've finished your image, don't immediately upload it. Leave it over night then have another look.
You'll be surprised how many things can be improved on a second look and after a good nights sleep.
Tell us about your entry
o Writing a description of what you tried to achieve along with your submitted screenshot will earn you extra points.
o If you've used an unusual graphics technique, tell us (briefly) how you did it.
o If there is imagery or some parts you think we might not pick up on, explain it!

o Cool prizes!
o You will have your image on lots of desktops for a grand ol' period of time.
All the people who don't win a main prize will not have their screenshot ignored. We will archive them in a zip for everyone to download, and place the download link in the first post. From here, all the 4th prize winners can get their goodies.

DONATIONS
All the TMX competition coppers prizes are donated by someone. Be part of the community and help to keep the competition scene active and fun for everyone. If you have a few coppers to spare (it doesn't matter how little), please donate them to the competition. Any left over after the main prizes are issued will be put straight back into the next comp, so everyone benefits.

Superb. I've been looking forward to this competition. The last one was really good. Nice to see all the rules are clear cut and precise - leaves no room for errors and the samples provided give a nice idea of what we should be aiming for.

Alright, this might be something for me. Two questions: I assume you don't have to pick a screen here, you have to make it yourself? And where's the link of JayPee's TMX PSD file?
The screenies have to be from TMX either united site or nations forever im not bothered. |

Fortunaley, I made some nice TMX trackscreenshots by myself so I don't have to pay 1500 coppers .
edit: lol that was wrong so I would get additional coppers if I made one of the first 3 places and used screenshots by myself? |

Yes you would get 1500 for each screenie but thats not really the point. Its supposed to be for community spirit so we kinda wanted you to use other ppls screenies but its no a rule so you can use your own. |

Stock photos are images that is made for commercial use, it can be both pictures and small elements such as flourishes and other stuff. Stock photos are allowed for commercial use and is mostly used by post production companys when they're creating commercial posters. But there are some sites offering free stock photos and I woundered if I could use an element that I can't take a picture of myself. |
